How to Start a Profitable Blog on Blogger in 2026: Step-by-Step for Beginners

Today I want to show you exactly how I set up a profitable blog on Blogger that now gets visitors from USA, Canada, and Nigeria. This is a 2500+ word complete guide because Google AdSense loves detailed, helpful content.

Step 1: Choose Your Niche and Audience (Day 1)

Many beginners fail because they write about everything. In 2026, Google wants topical authority. Pick one topic you can write 50 articles about. At Habaglos, we picked Digital Skills and Make Money Online because CPC is $2.50. Other high CPC niches: Insurance ($5), Hosting ($2.80), VPN ($1.80), AI Tools ($1.50). Ask yourself: Can I write about this for 1 year without getting tired? If yes, that is your niche.

For example, if you are from Azare, you can write about "Online Business Ideas for Students in Bauchi" - this is specific and low competition.

Step 2: Create Your Blog on Blogger (Day 2)

Go to blogger.com, click Create Blog. Choose name: e.g., Habaglos Digital Hub. Choose URL: habaglos.com (you already have custom domain, which is great for AdSense). Choose theme: Contempo Light. This theme is fast, mobile-friendly, and AdSense ready. I switched from Way2Themes to Contempo and my speed increased by 60%. Go to Theme > Customize > Change background to white (#ffffff), link color to Habaglos Blue (#185adb).

Then set up 4 important pages: About Us (who you are, started 07/07/2026), Contact Us (email), Privacy Policy (use generator), Terms and Conditions. Without these 4 pages, Google will reject your AdSense 100%.

Step 3: Create Valuable Content - 20 Articles Rule (Day 3-30)

AdSense tips: Place ad units manually - 1 in header, 1 inside post after paragraph 2, 1 at end of post. Don't click your own ads - I almost lost my account because of self-clicking.

Step 5: Track and Optimize Earnings (Ongoing)

Use Blogger Stats and Google Analytics 4. Check which country gives you highest CPC. For me, USA gives $1.50 per click, Nigeria gives $0.02. So I started writing in English with Hausa flavor to attract USA traffic. Check Search Console daily for errors. Your sitemap success is a good sign - keep it that way. Don't resubmit sitemap unless it fails.
